IMF demands nothing from Ukraine, only assists financial recovery - Yatseniuk

The International Monetary Fund does not advance any demands to Ukraine and only provides funding against guarantees of financial recovery, said Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.
"Discussions are on about what the IMF actually is, and that it allegedly advancing demands to us. Let me say right away that the IMF is not demanding anything from us. It's Ukraine that is seeking IMF aid. But if we are to get the funding we must demonstrate that we are changing. We have proven over the past year that we are implementing what we have pledged to do, what the world community recognizes a reforms," he said in the "Ten Minutes with the Prime Minister" program aired on Sunday.
The Ukrainian government had two options: to borrow new loans in order to repay the old ones, or to rehabilitate the financial system, he said. "We need to recover. We must be healthy and our efforts are being aided by the European Union, the United States and foreign lenders, including the IMF. We are not borrowing to accumulate debts," Yatseniuk said.
He said that the previous government had borrowed $40 billion in private loans, but only $14 billion were repaid last year and just $9 billion has been borrowed.
