Exports of construction materials from Ukraine almost twice more than imports in 2012, says ministry

Exports of key construction materials in Ukraine in 2012 came to UAH 14.5 billion, which is almost two times more than the imports figure, Regional Development Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Hennadiy Temnyk has said.
"Last year the exports volume of key construction materials was almost two times more than imports. Ukraine imported construction goods worth UAH 7.5 billion, and sold them abroad for UAH 14.5 billion. The policy of imports replacement was continued and is being strengthened," the press service of the ministry said, citing Temnyk.
The minister said that last year over 20 new modern construction material facilities were launched in Ukraine, particularly, ferroconcrete items, windows and doors, parquet and millwork.
"All the goods are rather competitive, they are equal compared to foreign analogs or even better in quality and price. The exports indicators visually prove this," he added.
As reported, in February 2012, referring to data from the Regional Development Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Ministry, a stable pace of growth in exports of construction materials, which exceeds imports volumes, was seen in Ukraine. In 2011 their exports exceeded imports by UAH 6.9 billion, being UAH 14.5 billion.
