Open Letter to Prime Minister of India The Right Honourable Narendra Modi

The Right Honourable Narendra Modi

Prime Minister of the Republic of India

Dear Prime Minister,

We avail ourselves of this opportunity to express our deepest respect to you and the freedom-loving people of the Republic of India. We would also like to express our gratitude for humanitarian aid and support that have already been provided to Ukraine by the Indian government, business circles, and civic society.

As you are aware of, on 24 February 2022, Russia committed an act of full-scale aggression against our nation. For the past eleven months, it has been waging its brutal, bloody, merciless, and treacherous war with a view to destroy Ukraine and eliminate its people. In 1994, having received security assurances from the world’s biggest nuclear powers, Ukraine voluntarily gave up its nuclear arsenal, and now, together with the entire world, it is suffering from nuclear blackmailing by Russia, which, by the irony of fate, was one of the parties that pledged to assure our security. Russia’s war against Ukraine is now threatening the international security system. In the times of globalization, it is all-important for everyone not to hold off on the bloodiest armed aggression in Europe since the end of the World War II because it is dangerous for the entire mankind!

We call upon you as a respected world politician and a stalwart supporter of diplomacy and democracy to condemn this expansionist, colonial war of the Russian Federation as quickly as possible, and assist in ending it and restoring the territorial integrity of Ukraine within its internationally recognized borders as of 1991.

While a lot of world leaders have condemned the aggression of the Russian Federation, it has not demonstrated any intention to stop the war and continues to commit genocide on the temporarily occupied areas of Ukraine and terrorizes its population on its free lands with constant air raids and shelling. The Ukrainian people have every right to restore the territorial integrity of our state. This is why we are asking you for your assistance as the leader of a nation that considers territorial integrity and sovereignty to be an integral part of the statehood and independence of every nation. A clear, straightforward stance of India is now needed more than ever before to stop the military aggression of Russia.

We are humbly approaching you, dear Prime Minister, because it is you who, despite some economic and national limitations, can exert every effort to provide a wider array of assistance to our nation and its unbroken people.

Every one of us who has signed this letter considers ourselves to be true friends of India, its biggest admirers and supporters. Our ranks include scientists, politicians, artists, and civil activists from various parts of Ukraine, India, and the world.

We appreciate all that you do for our cause and pin big hopes for your noble peacemaking activities that can turn into a landmark for other international leaders and politicians.

We look forward to seeing positive changes. Thank you for listening.

Most respectfully,
