Ukrainian PACE delegation to participate in discussion of Donbas, education law

Representative of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's permanent delegation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) are participating in the first part of the January 22-26 PACE session in Strasbourg, during which the situation in Donbas, as well as individual articles of the Ukrainian education law, will be discussed.

"During the January session of the PACE, representatives of the Ukrainian Verkhovna Rada's permanent delegation to the PACE will participate in the discussion of the humanitarian and security situations in Donbas. The discussion of individual articles of the Ukrainian Law on Education is also planned," the Verkhovna Rada's press service said on Monday.

The session's agenda includes discussions of various issues, such as growing anti-Semitism, Islamophobia, and xenophobia in Europe, the Israeli-Palestinian peace process, the protection of children in armed conflicts, establishing the foundations of modern sports governance, the legal immunity of international organizations, strengthening the international legal framework for countering sales of means of torture, and others.

According to the PACE website, a discussion of the humanitarian consequences of the war in Ukraine will take place on Tuesday; a Lithuanian representative will present a report.

A discussion of the protection and promotion of regional and minority languages in Europe is also scheduled for Tuesday; a Hungarian representative will present a report.
