PGO probes coup in Ukraine in 2014 under Yanukovych's application

The Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine (PGO), under an application filed by former Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych (2010-2014), has launched an investigation into the case on a coup d'etat in Ukraine in February 2014, the press service of the Aver Lex law firm has reported, citing Yanukovych's lawyer, Vitaliy Serdiuk.
"A respective application by fourth Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych on the forcible seizure of state power in February 2014 was submitted to the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine on July 14, 2017. We received a message that under this application the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine registered criminal proceedings No. 42017000000003432 and started a pre-trial investigation," Serdiuk said.
The press service said that in his statement Yanukovych demands that the PGO check the involvement of several current high-ranking officials in the coup, in particular, Interior Minister Arsen Avakov, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko, Prosecutor General Yuriy Lutsenko, former Head of the Security Service of Ukraine Valentyn Nalyvaichenko, Verkhovna Rada Speaker Andriy Parubiy, MPs Serhiy Pashynsky and Oleh Tiahnybok, NSDC Secretary Oleksandr Turchynov, former Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk, and others.
