EU should maintain sanctions against Russia until full implementation of Minsk agreements

The government of France has made it clear that European Union's sanctions against Russia must be kept in place until Moscow impalements the Minsk agreements in full and this position remains unchanged, French Ambassador to Ukraine Isabelle Dumont has said.

"The position of the French government was announced earlier: France continues the sanctions, this is the decision of the EU. The position of France on this issue is clear – sanctions must remain in place, as Russia does not observe the Minsk agreements," the diplomat said during the presentation of the study on the Ukraine-France relations in Kyiv on Tuesday.

According to her, the French Senate simply expressed its opinion and desire regarding the lifting of the sanctions. The French economy is suffering from the sanctions, so there is such a desire, Dumont explained.
