Turchynov notes high competitiveness of Ukrainian weapons

Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has noted the high competitiveness of Ukrainian weapons.

"Weapons produced in Ukraine at present are quite competitive in foreign markets, as weapons and military equipment are tested not on proving grounds but in harsh combat conditions. Based on the experience of using it in combat conditions, it is improved and changed, therefore it is in demand," he said at Ukrainian Defense and Security Forum '16 in Kyiv.

However, Turchynov would like to see investment in the domestic defense sector.

"Our priority is the restoration of the military-industrial complex, military potential, which was in the country 20-30 years ago This is a very wide range of activities from small arms to powerful missile weapons, armored vehicles, aircraft," the official added.

He noted this forum would contribute to the development and investment in the Ukrainian defense sector, which is ready for this.
