Poroshenko signs law on denationalization of printed media, adopted by Rada given his remarks

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko has signed law No. 917-VIII on the reform of state and municipal print mass media, the presidential press service has said.

The press service noted that the document was adopted by the Verkhovna Rada on December 24, taking into account the president's suggestions regarding retaining not only the name but the purpose, the thematic focus and the language of publications during their reform.

"Under the conditions of information aggression, the issue of the protection of Ukraine's linguistic and informational space becomes of a particular importance. According to the Constitution, the state provides for the comprehensive development and functioning of the Ukrainian language in all the spheres of public life throughout the territory of Ukraine, the country also guarantees the free development, use and protection of minority languages," read the president's remarks.
