Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) Oleksandr Turchynov met with the UK Ambassador to Ukraine Judith Gough to discuss the current situation in Ukraine, reforming of security and defense sectors, and prospects of cooperation between the countries.

At the request of the ambassador, Turchynov gave her a detailed account of the Russian hybrid war methods, the NSDC press service said.

The NSDC secretary also has noted that Russian side constantly breaks Minsk agreements, "particularly, Ukrainian positions were shelled on a daily basis."

"Over the last two days, apart from shelling, there were two military clashes during which Ukrainian Armed Forces stopped terrorists' attempts to break through our defense line," he said.

Turchynov said that the high-level political leadership of the Russian Federation breaks the system of collective security and imposes to the world a new paradigm of force and weapons. "This is exactly the reason why we think that sanctions against Russia can't have temporary nature," he added.

Besides, the interlocutors discussed the reforming of the security and defense sector of our country. The Great Britain is ready to assist Ukraine in this area by providing expert and technical support, Gough said.

The ambassador also stressed that the UK would continue to extend support to Ukraine, as "it is our [UK] long-term commitment." "We hope that Ukraine will soon become a prosperous country, preserving its territorial integrity," she summed up.
