EU permanent representatives agree to extend anti-Russian sanctions

The European Union's sanctions against Russia have been extended by six months, until July 31, 2016, under a resolution approved by its Committee of permanent representatives (COREPER) in Brussels on Friday, a European diplomatic source told Interfax on Friday.

COREPER agreed on a six-month extension, he confirmed.

The resolution is due to be approved by the EU Council at around midday on Monday, he said.

On Tuesday, the legal act will be published in the Official Journal of the European Union, he added.
