Yatseniuk announces visits of U.S. treasury secretary, IMF mission, demands balanced draft budget, tax reform

The Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine will hold a series of negotiations with U.S. Treasury Secretary Jacob J. Lew and the mission of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on the conditions of further financing, one of which is the adoption of the balanced 2016 national budget on the basis of balanced tax reform, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk has said.

“By the end of this year the balanced law on the national budget should be passed. The law should be submitted along with balanced tax reform that is to relax [the conditions of] doing business, administration, and creates conditions for additional attraction of investment and capital to the Ukrainian economy,” he said while opening a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.

Yatseniuk said that at present, the Finance Ministry, jointly with profile ministries and businesses, is working on tax reform that would really boost the Ukrainian economy and lead to Ukraine’s national budget becoming balanced

He added that jointly with the budget and tax reform package, auxiliary laws on social and humanitarian issues are to be passed, and next week consultations with parliamentary factions will begin.

As reported, the U.S. Department of the Treasury has announced that Secretary Jacob J. Lew will travel to Kyiv, Ukraine.
