Govt hopes for feedback from constructors on transfer of architectural, construction control powers to local agencies by Oct 1 – Yatseniuk

The Ukrainian government plans to study the first results of decentralization in architectural and construction control as part of the transfer of functions and some powers of architectural and construction control agencies to local agencies from September 1, 2015, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said at a cabinet meeting on Wednesday.
"From September 1 we will see how they [changes in the architectural and construction control area] work and then on October 1 you jointly with ombudsman will invite market players… and we will receive a feedback and impression of market players what is really happening in the regions," he said, addressing Deputy Prime Minister and Regional Development, Construction, Housing and Utilities Economy Minister Hennadiy Zubko.
Yatseniuk also pointed out the importance of bringing the current construction requirements in Ukraine in line EU standards and introducing European rules in the Ukrainian construction sector.
"I think that with great pleasure our western partners would provide us technical aid to revise construction requirements and standards," he said.
Zubko said that the ministry continues working to bring the current construction requirements in Ukraine in line with EU standards.
Today the ministry has received applications to take powers of architectural and construction control from only 25% of local authorities.
