Minsk hopes for dynamics in negotiations on conflict in Ukraine

Belarus is hoping for dynamics in the negotiation process on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, Belarusian Foreign Minister Vladimir Makei said in an interview with Rossiya 24 television.
"As to the work of the Trilateral Contact Group, which comprises OSCE officials, the process continues and some headway has been made, no matter what," Makei said.
The minister said the sides are gradually reaching agreements on heavy weapons withdrawal and on the fulfillment of the agreements reached within the framework of the Normandy format in February 2015. "We are hoping that there will be dynamics in this process," he said.
"From our viewpoint, achieving peace requires the interest of all parties and the readiness for dialogue of all partners involved in this conflict," Makei said.
The minister also said that Belarus is ready not only to host the negotiations on the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, but also fulfill the functions of a secretariat.
"We are ready not only to provide a venue, but also, if need be, to fulfill the functions of a secretariat, which some partners are asking us to do. We are ready to provide any other assistance to ensure that peace and accord are achieved in Ukraine as soon as possible," Makei said.
