Savchenko completely trusts her Russian attorneys, defense
MP, member of the Verkhovna Rada and of the Ukrainian Delegation to PACE Nadia Savchenko, who is illegally detained in Russia, has expressed confidence in her lawyers Mark Feygin, Nikolai Polozov and Ilya Novikovm who represent her interests in the Russian courts.
"To avoid unnecessary gossip, misunderstanding and false distortion of information, I declare that I go to court with my defenders Feygin, Polozov and Novikov. I won't have any other lawyers. No one has managed to destroy our team within the year, and [they] won't succeed in the future!" reads Savchenko's statement, a copy of which Feygin and Polozov posted on Twitter on Tuesday.
She also said that she refused the service of her Ukrainian defender Viktor Chevhuz, including for her public defense in Russian courts. Oleksandr Plakhotniuk remains her lawyer in Ukraine.
"I'll announce the information on who will be my public defender in the courts later. As of today, I decided to refuse the service of my lawyer in Ukraine Chevhuz and his work on my public defense in Russian courts. Oleksandr Plakhotniuk remains my lawyer in Ukraine," Savchenko said.
According to Feygin, he visited Savchenko with Polozov on Tuesday morning. During the meeting, Savchenko passed her letter to them, which they have asked to be spread.
"[We] were at Nadia Savchenko's [cell]. [We] are working as a team in spite of enemies' intrigues," Polozov added.
