Ukraine remains committed to Minsk agreement - Yatseniuk

Ukraine, unlike Russia, remains committed to the peaceful settlement process in Donbas, says Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk.

"I am deeply frustrated by the fact that Russia is in fact failing to implement the Minsk agreements, and I am saying again and again that it is necessary to fully and completely implement all provisions of the Minsk protocol that has been signed. Ukraine remains committed to the peace process, but it looks like only Ukraine is abiding by the peace process, unlike Russia and terrorists," Yatseniuk said at a government meeting on Wednesday.

The situation in Donbas has dramatically worsened of late, and the number or ceasefire violations has grown, he said.

"I am really concerned that Russia is failing to comply with the Minsk agreements. We have losses again, and we have the shelling again, and the key requirement for the Russian Federation is the implementation of what they've signed. The first and the main provision of the Minsk agreements is a ceasefire," he said.

Ukraine is willing to continue implementing the obligations it undertook in Minsk, including by holding fair and transparent elections in Donbas, he said.

Ukraine is determined to ensure the de-escalation of the situation in Donbas, Yatseniuk said. "We won't digress from the settlement and de-escalation path in Donbas, and therefore we will struggle for peace in Ukraine in any way we can, including through improving the Ukrainian armed forces' combat capability," Yatseniuk said.
