No one has right to interfere in creation of new Ukrainian constitution - Yatseniuk

Ukraine's Prime Minister Arseniy Yatseniuk said changes to the country's constitution should be prepared by the administration and the people of Ukraine and there should be no outside interference.

"As to the reflection of the position of all people of Ukraine in this Constitution, I would like to point out that the Constitution will be written by the Ukrainian president, Ukrainian Constitutional Commission, the Ukrainian parliament, which needs a stable constitutional majority - over 300 votes to vote for this Constitution - and the people of Ukraine. Moscow or anyone else will have no right to tell us which Constitution we should have. It's our country and our constitution," Yatseniuk said at the first meeting of the constitutional commission in Kyiv on Monday.

Yatseniuk reiterated that the entire country, "from the west to the east," should take part in the work on the new constitution.

"Speaking about our dialogue with the east, it's dialogue solely with lawfully elected representatives of eastern Ukraine […] In accordance with the Minks agreements, we expect Russia to fulfill these agreements and hold fair and transparent local elections that are in line with the OSCE standards to ensure that representatives of the entire Ukraine are involved in the inclusive dialogue on the work on changes to the constitution," he said.

He said the Constitution should be put up for a nationwide referendum. "The president's position on the referendum is a response to the question as to who will write the constitution," he said.
