NSDC reports attacks on army positions in Donbas
The activity of illegal armed units has intensified in the Donetsk area and attacks on Ukrainian army positions continue, the Ukrainian National Security and Defense Council (NSDC) said.
"The Ukrainian army positions on the airport premises have twice come under fire from artillery, mortars, grenade launchers and light firearms," NSDC spokesman Andriy Lysenko said at a press briefing on Friday.
He said the army had repelled an attack near the village of Orlivka in the Yasynuvata district.
"The militants have also fired on our positions near Tonenke with Grad rocket launchers and artillery and from mortars, grenade launchers and firearms near Pisky, Maryinka, Slavne and Avdiyivka. Positions of the ATO forces came under mortar and grenade launcher fire near the towns of Nikishyne, Horlivka-Ivanivka, Chornukhyne and Mius in the Debaltseve sector. Our positions came under mortar and firearm fire near Stanytsia Luhanska, Stary Aidar and Sokolnyky in the Luhansk region. Positions of ATO forces were shelled near Lomakine, Hranitne and Novolaspa in the Mariupol sector," Lysenko reported.
