Local authorities report overnight gunfire in Donetsk

Gunfire, explosions and salvoes fired from heavy weapons were heard in all parts of Donetsk, eastern Ukraine, last night, the city administration's press service said on Friday morning.

The situation in Donetsk remained tense on Friday morning, the city authorities said, declining to say whether any people were killed or injured in overnight strikes.

Specialists of Donetskmiskgaz have already restored gas supplies to 1,099 households in the Kirovsky district of Donetsk, where local gas mains were damaged as a result of artillery strikes. They are now preparing to resume gas supplies to 13 high-rise apartment buildings in the Tekstylschyk district.

Twenty-eight electrical substations, 17 in the Tekstylschyk district and 11 in the Petrovsky district, have been put back into operation as well.

Public transport is running on a holiday schedule in Donetsk on Friday. Bus services are operating in all districts of Donetsk, including the town of Mospyne. Transport links with the village of the Zhovtnevy Rudnyk mine have been restored as well.
