Poroshenko calls Putin to discuss peace plan, release of hostage

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko on Thursday had a phone call with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin, the Ukrainian presidential press service reported.
"The President of Ukraine has outlined key positions and a time frame for the implementation of a peace plan in the east of the state. Poroshenko stressed the need to release people held hostage and establish an effective regime to control the Ukraine-Russia border," the press service said.
Poroshenko also said he hoped that the ceasefire would go along with the support of the peace plan.
"The President of Russia in turn expressed support for efforts to de-escalate the situation in Donetsk and Luhansk regions, cease fire and implement the Ukrainian president's peace plan," the press service said.
