Turchynov: Counter-terrorism operation launched in north of Donetsk region tonight

Verkhovna Rada Chairman and Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov has said that a counter-terrorism operation was launched in the north of Donetsk region in the early hours of Tuesday.
"Tonight a counter-terrorism operation was launched in the north of Donetsk region. But it will go on gradually, responsibly and prudently. Once again I emphasize that these actions are meant for the protection of Ukrainian citizens, stopping terror, criminality, [and] attempts to break our country into pieces," he said delivering a speech at the Verkhovna Rada on Tuesday.
He added that the police subdivisions, in the east as well, are being reformed.
"Go to work in the police, go to the National Guard, go to protect the Motherland in the Armed Forces," he said to people holding rallies outside the Verkhovna Rada demanding more resolute action from the authorities to restore order in southeastern Ukraine.
Besides, Turchynov said that Russia's plans "were and remain brutal."
"They want to see not just Donbas burning - they want the whole south and east to burn: from Kharkiv to Odesa regions."
