Night passes quietly in Kyiv

1 min read

Activity quieted down in the Kyiv center last night, and Independence Square stayed calm on Friday morning.

Meanwhile, rioters are preparing for the possible resumption of clashes. Car tyres are being supplied to the barricades, and loads of them have been stored along the barricades on Instytutska Street

As of approximately 0300, there were no law enforcers deployed in the vicinity of the barricades and streets adjoining Independence Square but the radicals kept supplying bottles of incendiary liquid to the barricades.

Buses from Ukrainian regions were arriving on Independence Square through the night.

According to the estimates of an Interfax-Ukraine correspondent, several thousands of people were staying on Independence Square in the morning. They have occupied at least five more buildings on Khreschatyk and claimed that the shop owners had volunteered to pass the premises under their temporary control over the past 24 hours.
