Lithuanian Seimas leadership to visit EuroMaidan rally in Kyiv
Speaker of the Seimas of the Republic of Lithuania Loreta Grauziniene and her deputies Gediminas Kirkilas and Petras Austrevicius, who departed for Kyiv on Tuesday, are planning to attend the EuroMaidan rally in support of Ukraine's European integration course on European Square in Kyiv.
"We are going to attend the rally," Kirkilas told BNS in a phone conversation.
He said that the Lithuanian parliamentarians would speak to the participants of the rally and after that they will meet with representatives of the Ukrainian opposition.
Grauziniene, Kirkilas, and Austrevicius will make an unscheduled visit to Kyiv on Tuesday afternoon.
On Wednesday, they are to meet with Verkhovna Rada Chairman Volodymyr Rybak.
The visit was not agreed with the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry.
Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkevicius said that it was an unusual practice, but refused to give further comments on the visit.
"Actually, one should agree such actions, but I don't want to comment on the visits of the speaker of the Seimas. Moreover, I was not informed about this visit and I have nothing to add," he said.
