International standards will be upheld during repeat election to Rada in 5 troubled districts, says CEC head
The Central Election Commission plans to announce the results of the repeat elections of people's deputies of Ukraine in five constituencies by the New Year.
CEC Chairman Mykhailo Okhendovsky said this during a meeting with U.S. Ambassador to Ukraine Geoffrey Pyatt and Head of the EU Delegation to Ukraine Jan Tombinski, the press service of the CEC reported.
The meeting was held at the request of the diplomatic missions of the United States and the EU to Ukraine on Thursday.
"I hope nothing will prevent the commission from announcing the results of the elections even before 2014, as prescribed by the law," Okhendovsky said.
At present, the CEC is holding the election process in the five single-seat constituencies. He said.
Okhendovsky assured the diplomats that the CEC was committed to holding the electoral process in compliance with Ukraine's legislation and international electoral standards.
