Ukraine-Russia readmission agreement comes into force, says Foreign Ministry
An agreement on readmission between Ukraine and Russia comes into force on August 8, the press service of the Foreign Ministry of Ukraine reported.
"An agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the government of the Russian Federation about readmission takes effect on August 8, about which the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry was officially notified by the Russian Embassy in Ukraine through a diplomatic note," the press service said.
As reported, the governments of Ukraine and Russia signed the agreement on readmission on October 22, 2012. The Ukrainian parliament ratified the document on June 5, 2013. In late June 2013, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych signed into law the bill on the ratification of the agreement.
The issue of readmission is important to both Kyiv and Moscow in the context of the visa liberalization dialogue with the European Union.
