CEC approves funds for by-election in Sevastopol
The Central Election Commission (CEC) has approved funds from the state budget of UAH 3.328 million needed to prepare for and hold a by-election of the people's deputy of Ukraine in single-member constituency No. 224 in Sevastopol, which should be held on July 7.
A respective decision was taken at a commission meeting on Thursday by all 14 commission members. Of this amount, the estimated expenditures of the Central Election Commission for preparing for and holding the by-election in the constituency are UAH 690,900.
As reported, the CEC at a meeting on Thursday registered two candidates for people’s deputy in constituency No. 224. In particular, the commission registered the president of the Smart-Holding Group (Kyiv), Vadim Novinsky, and a Sevastopol City Council deputy and the leader of the Communists of Sevastopol faction, Vasyl Parkhomenko.
Novinsky was registered as a self-nominee, but he said earlier that if he becomes an MP, he will be ready to join the Party of Regions. Parkhomenko was nominated by the Communist Party of Ukraine.
