Body of third miner found at Donetsk region mine

The body of the third miner, who was trapped under the rubbles on April 14, 2013 at the Chaikyne coal mine run by Makyivvuhillia state enterprise, was found, the press service of the local branch of the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety in Donetsk region on April 15, 2013.

"[The body] was found at 1340," the press service said.

Earlier at 0615 the bodies of two of the three miners trapped in the cave-in were found.

First Deputy Head of the local branch of the State Service of Mining Supervision and Industrial Safety in Donetsk region, Volodymyr Tsymbalenko, this coal bed is a hazardous one.

"A gas-dynamic action occurred there," he said, adding that there was not a blast on the site.

He said that nine pitmen were in the working face at the moment of the accident. Six pitmen got out the mine themselves.

The bodies of the miners had not been pulled out the mine to the surface, as the methane concentration on the site exceeded the safe concentration.

He said that an additional ventilating pipeline was installed to the site, using which some 700 cubic meters of air was pumped, which allowed reducing the methane concentration to the safe level. The cave-in is 10-12 meters long.

As reported, the accident at the mine occurred at 1717 on April 14, 2013.
