Government resolution on validity of new driving license comes into force

1 min read

A resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers on the terms of validity of new driving licenses came into force from April.

This is envisaged by the resolution of March 13, 2013 No. 185 on the implementation of the law "On single state demographic register and documents that confirm Ukrainian citizenship, identify person or her specials status."

According to the resolution, driving licenses to operate A, A1, B and B1 transport categories, which were registered and issued after this resolution came into effect, are valid 20 years from the date of their issuing, while other categories are valid ten years from the mentioned date. Such certificates are to be exchanged under the fixed procedure.

The driving licenses issued until this resolution came into force are valid for the term they have been issued for. They are still valid and they will be changed only at the desire of the owner or when opening a new category. The driver does not have to pass the exam again when changing the document for a new one. Only a health certificate is needed.

However, the drivers who have Soviet-issued driving permits must change them by January 1, 2014.
