CEC registers Party of Regions MPs instead of newly appointed ministers

The Central Election Commission (CEC) has registered three MPs on the list of the Party of Regions due to the appointment of earlier elected MPs as ministers, the commission's press service has reported.

At a meeting on Thursday, the commission declared elected in a nationwide multi-member districts and registered as MPs elected on the list of the Party of Regions Yuriy Poliachenko (No. 76 on the list), Oleksandr Zats (No. 77) and Yuriy Blahodyr (No. 78), instead of Leonid Kozhara, Oleksandr Lavrynovych and Dmytro Tabachnyk.

Poliachenko, born in 1963, before being elected to parliament, served as director of the Shalimov National Institute of Surgery and Transplantology, and he currently lives in Kyiv. He also worked as health minister – in the government of Prime Minister Yuriy Yekhanurov in 2005 and in the government of Prime Minister Viktor Yanukovych in 2006-2007.

Zats, born in 1976, was an MP of the fifth and sixth convocations, lives in Donetsk.

Blahodyr, born in 1974, is an advisor to the Verkhovna Rada chairman, lives in Rivne.

As reported, Lavrynovych was appointed as justice minister, Tabachnyk reappointed as minister for education and science, youth and sports, and Kozhara appointed as foreign minister.

On December 25, the Verkhovna Rada terminated the powers of these MPs in connection with their appointment as ministers.
