Azarov thanks government members for their work

Acting Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov has said that he held the last meeting of the government on Monday as premier, and announced his decision to resign from the position, reading aloud the president's decree on the dismissal of the Ukrainian government.

"I thanked the members of the Cabinet of Ministers for their work, which under the world economic crisis helped to stabilize the social and economic situation in Ukraine, strengthen state funds, develop the home market and improve social standards," reads Azarov's statement posted on the Ukrainian government's Web site on Monday.

At the meeting of the government he also stressed that the ministers will keep carrying out their duties until the appointment of the new government,

"We have to do everything to ensure that plans for social and economic development of the state are fulfilled thoroughly and all systems of the state authorities are functioning perfectly," Azarov said.

As reported, on December 3 Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych accepted the resignation of Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov and the entire Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
