Yanukovych supports further development of alternative energy in Ukraine
Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said that the country should keep actively building solar and wind power plants.
He said this at a meeting with employees of Public JSC Odeskabel in Odesa on Wednesday, according to an Interfax-Ukraine reporter.
The president said that innovative approaches to the construction of alternative energy plants could contribute to the country's development.
"That is the way towards modernization that Ukraine should follow," Yanukovych said.
In addition, the head of state said that the construction of such power plants could help to improve the environment in Ukraine.
"It's high time to think about cleaning up our Earth or at least to stop polluting it. All of the facilities we are building should comply with the latest environmental programs. We should not skimp on the environment. The environment is life," Yanukovych said.
