CEC member: Tymoshenko to vote either in prison or in hospital

Former Ukrainian Prime Minister Yulia Tymoshenko will vote on the list of voters now at a polling station in the Kachanivska penal colony, a member of the Central Election Commission, Bronislav Raikovsky, has said.

"Tymoshenko was included on the lists of voters in the Kachanivska penal colony, and she has to vote at this polling station," he told Interfax-Ukraine on Monday.

He said that if Tymoshenko is in prison on Election Day on October 28, she would vote there. If she remains in hospital on that day, then members of a district election commission from the colony could bring a portable ballot box for her.

As reported, the Central Election Commission asked two district election commissions in Kharkiv to provide an explanation regarding where Tymoshenko could vote. This is due to the fact that the Kachanivska penal colony belongs to constituency No. 168, while Ukrzaliznytsia's hospital belongs to constituency No. 173.

Earlier, Tymoshenko sent an open letter to the president asking him to return her from hospital to prison, because, she said, she is under constant video surveillance in hospital.

The elections to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine are scheduled for October 28.
