Election monitoring system already working in Ukraine, says Yanukovych

The election process monitoring system has been launched in Ukraine, Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych has said.

"The system of monitoring and registration of violations during elections has been created and was launched as of today," the president told journalists in Krushynka (Kyiv region) on Wednesday.

According to him, law enforcers and local governments work with the system.

"They will respond immediately to any infringement on the law on elections or any administrative violation during the election process," he said.

Yanukovych also said several similar monitoring centers for international observers and diplomats will be created soon.

"Several such centers will be created for the elections, particularly for international observers. The Foreign Ministry will also participate [in the monitoring]," the president said.

According to the head of state, the current election process does not differ much from the previous election campaigns in the country, and the Central Election Commission and courts quickly respond to registered violations.

"Today the pre-election process is absolutely the same as the previous elections in our country. There are many emotions. There is a human factor, and the system reacts immediately to violations," he said.

The parliamentary elections will be held in Ukraine on October 28, 2012.
