Cabinet completely controls socio-economic situation in Ukraine, says Azarov
The government of Ukraine confidently and completely controls the socio-economic situation in the country, Ukrainian Prime Minister Mykola Azarov has said.
"Ukraine is having moderate economic growth. The government is implementing balanced and predictable economic and business policy. We have cut significantly the purchase of expensive gas that requires foreign currency. We are implementing policy aimed at development of the domestic market. All this positively influences the balance of payment, the country is receiving more currency than it spends on imports of goods, and the country's currency reserves, which are at the pre-crisis level now, don't require foreign assistance," he said while opening a meeting of the government on Wednesday.
"In a word, our government is demonstrating completely confident control over the situation," he said.
According to the premier, irresponsible politicians' talks about worsening of the economic situation after the parliamentary elections are a part of their pre-election campaigns.
Azarov added that the socio-economic situation in Ukraine will not worsen after the elections – food prices will remain the same, housing and utility tariffs will not rise, and the hryvnia will remain stable.
