Opposition MP gets broken rib and finger in scuffle at election constituency No. 211, says his party

As a result of a scuffle at district election constituency No. 211 during the recount of ballots in Ukraine's parliamentary elections, MP Serhiy Teriokhin of the BYT-Batkivschyna faction had a rib and a finger broken, the Web site of the Batkivschyna United Opposition reported.

"During a scuffle at district election constituency No. 211, which arose as a result of illegal and unauthorized recount of votes as well as unauthorized stay of the police and the Berkut special unit in the commission's office, a candidate of the Batkivschyna United Opposition, Serhiy Teriokhin, got a rib and a finger broken," the united opposition said in a statement quoting the head of Batkivschyna's election staff in Kyiv, Yuriy Odarchenko.

According to him, Teriokhin is currently in hospital, the district commission is working behind closed doors.

Odarchenko said they complained to the police leadership about the presence of law-enforcement officers at the constituency.

In turn, the main department of Kyiv police told Interfax-Ukraine that a conflict and a scuffle started between lawmakers who were present at constituency No. 211. The commission members decided to call the police.

The police said they intervened to stabilize the situation. They said they had no information about Teriokhin's injuries.
