NABU actions are direct pressure on airline – UIA statement

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) has declared pressure on it on the part of the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine (NABU).

"In connection with the publication on the official website of the NABU regarding the allegedly illegal actions of UIA officials, the company states NABU actions are a direct pressure on the airline, the rough leveling of guarantees for doing business in Ukraine," a statement reads.

The UIA said NABU actions are the manifestation of the authorities' unwillingness to resolve the issue of fee payment to the state specialized fund for financing public costs for aviation activities and Ukraine's participation in international aviation organizations by lawful means, in particular, through the adoption of appropriate laws, as required by the Constitution and the Tax Code of Ukraine.

"The airline has repeatedly expressed its position on the illegal actions of the State Aviation Service of Ukraine regarding calculation of fees to the state special fund and defended it in courts against representatives of the State Aviation Service and the Kyiv prosecutor's office. Ukraine International Airlines states that in its activity it always adheres to law and will fight by all available means against manifestations of legal nihilism and unlawful pressure on the airline by law enforcement agencies," the UIA said.
