Ukraine expects positive decision on new IMF tranche despite Russia's opinion

Ukraine expects that the majority of board members of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) would support the decision to provide a third tranche to Kyiv under the Extended Fund Facility (EFF) program despite Russia's statement about its intent to vote against, Ukrainian Finance Minister Oleksandr Danyliuk has said.
"At the previous voting Russia has never backed the IMF's decisions to provide tranches to Ukraine under EFF program. Despite this fact, the IMF twice made positive decisions," he said in comments provided to Interfax-Ukraine on Tuesday.
Danyliuk recalled that the IMF Executive Board makes decisions by the majority of votes. Russia has the same right to vote as any other board member.
"We are waiting for positive results of the board voting on September 14 and the third tranche in the near term," the minister said.
As reported, Russian Finance Minister Anton Siluanov earlier said that Russia will cast its vote against providing IMF money to Ukraine.
