PrivatBank denies info on extension of restructuring debt to NBU until 2022

Ukraine's largest bank PrivatBank (Dnipropetrovsk) has denied information about a special agreement with the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) on the extension of refinancing loans until 2022, the press service of the financial institution has told Interfax-Ukraine.

"According to NBU decree No. 363 dated June 9, 2015, all banks can restructure debts on NBU refinancing loans until 2020. But PrivatBank has no plan to prolong refinancing loans until 2020, and even more, until 2022. PrivatBank set the plan as quickly as possible to repay the debt to the National Bank due to its high cost on a monthly basis of at least UAH 650 million," the bank said, noting that the plan was agreed with the National Bank, and PrivatBank strictly observes it.

In particular, according to the schedule, in March 2016 some UAH 650 million of the NBU loan was repaid.

According to the bank, as of April 1, 2016 its debt on refinancing loans obtained from the NBU stood at UAH 25.9 billion.
