Banks, Deposit Guarantee Fund cut debt to NBU by UAH 12.3 bln

Banks and the Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund in December cut their debt to the National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) by UAH 12.3 billion.
"The difference between the loans the NBU issued to the banks and the Deposit Guarantee Fund and the volume of repayment on the previously issued credits amounted to "minus" UAH 12.3 billion," the NBU said.
According to the report, the average rate on operations to support the liquidity of banks in December was 22.11%.
However, the NBU did not specify the amount of existing debt.
At the same time, the government in December, to issue a loan to the Individuals' Deposit Guarantee Fund, issued government domestic loan bonds worth a total of UAH 9 billion with a weighted average yield of 10.79% per annum, bringing its total support from the start of the year through this instrument to UAH 41.5 billion, said the National Bank.
