Coal stocks at Ukraine's power plants grow by 3.6% in one week – Ukrenergo

Coal stocks held in the warehouses of Ukrainian thermal power plants (TPPs) from October 19 to October 26, 2015 increased by 3.6% or by 76,000 tonnes, to 2.194 million tonnes, according to a national joint-stock company Ukrenergo report.

Anthracite stocks during the period totaled 1.13 million tonnes (391,100 tonnes at Luhansk TTP) and gas and short-flame coal – 1.064 million tonnes (including 209,400 tonnes at Burshtyn TPP).

Ukrenergo said that in the morning on October 26, 34 coal power units and one fuel oil power unit at the thermal power plants of generating companies with a capacity of 6.588 GW were operating. Ukrainian nuclear power plants (NPPs) had the capacity of 10.734 GW, hydroelectric power plants – 826 MW, combined heat and power plants – 1.602 GW and alternative energy units – 93 MW.

Ukrenergo operates Ukraine's backbone and interstate power grid and supervises the country's national grid. It is a state-owned company and is controlled by the Ukrainian Energy and Coal Industry Ministry.
