UIA not in talks with Russian airlines unaffected by sanctions on alternative services - UIA president

Ukraine International Airlines (UIA, Kyiv) is not currently in talks with Russian airlines unaffected by Ukrainian sanctions on alternative flights on routes between Russia and Ukraine, UIA President Yuriy Miroshnykov has said at a press conference in Kyiv.

According to him, his company believes that the current situation is unethical and improper.

He also added that such talks are not being held with UTair, which flies to Moscow from Ukraine and was not affected by the Ukrainian sanctions.

Speaking about retaliatory Russian sanctions, Miroshnykov said that UIA will engage in certain legal actions to conduct a legal assessment of Russian sanctions because the company considers them to be illegal.

As reported, Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko by his decree of September 16 enforced a resolution of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine dated September 2, 2015, on the application of personal special economic and other restrictive measures (sanctions) which apply to several Russian airlines, including Aeroflot.
