Ukrzaliznytsia reduces prices for trips to Hungary, Slovakia in trailing cars

The State Railway Administration of Ukraine Ukrzaliznytsia has reduced the price of train tickets by 50% for trailing cars going between Ukraine and Hungary and between Ukraine and Slovakia, reads a Ukrzaliznytsia press release issued on Friday.

"The discount is in effect from the beginning of March. It was introduced due to quick growth of the exchange rate of foreign currency as this influence the cost of tickets [the cost of the ticket is calculated in euros and paid in hryvnias under the NBU exchange rate]," reads the report.

The cost of tickets for the Kyiv-Budapest route was cut from EUR 99.40 to EUR 59.20 and from Lviv to Budapest – from EUR 71.40 to EUR 43.20. The cost of tickets for children (aged from four to 12) will be EUR 39.10 from Kyiv and EUR 29.10 from Lviv.

The cost of tickets on the Kyiv-Bratislava route was cut from EUR 125.20 to EUR 72.60, for Lviv-Bratislava – from EUR 97.20 to EUR 56.60. The cost of tickets for children is EUR 46.30 from Kyiv and EUR 36.30 from Lviv.

An additional discount has been introduced for tickets to Slovakia for groups consisting of at least six people.
