Russia, Ukraine should switch to pragmatic energy cooperation - Putin
Russia and Ukraine should switch to pragmatic cooperation in the gas sector, Russian President Vladimir Putin said.
"Russia is prepared to further accommodate its partners, but we are facing the goal of elaborating a truly efficient and longstanding interaction plan and switch from regular discussions on the price to pragmatic cooperation, both concerning supplies of gas to Ukraine and its reliable transit," Putin said in summing up outcomes of the 6th session of the Russian-Ukrainian interstate commission in Moscow on Tuesday.
The parties attached particular significance to energy cooperation, particularly cooperation in the gas sector, at the negotiations on Tuesday, he said.
Putin pointed out that Ukraine is still entitled to a discount on Russian gas, which has enabled Kyiv to save over $10 billion in the past several years.
