Ukraine cuts gas imports by 17.4% in Q1, 2013
Ukraine in January-March 2013 reduced natural gas imports by 17.4% (by 1.5 billion cubic meters) compared to the same period in 2012, to 7.1 billion cubic meters, the press service of PJSC Ukrtransgaz said on Thursday.
According to its data, in January-March 2013 imports of natural gas to Ukraine from Poland amounted to 118.3 million cubic meters, in March - 24.3 million cubic meters.
In general, from November 2012 to April 1, 2013, the total supply of natural gas to the country's gas transportation system from Germany through Poland amounted to about 171 million cubic meters.
Ukrtransgaz noted that from April 1 the volume of natural gas supplies from Hungary is up to 3 million cubic meters per day. After necessary technical measures to be taken soon, Hungary is expected to increase gas intake.
As reported, Ukraine in connection with Gazprom's plans and statements on a significant decline in the transit of Russian gas to Europe through the Ukrainian gas transportation system and reluctance to reduce the price of Russian gas started using its gas transportation facilities in a reverse mode.
