Kherson airport could resume work in May-June, says regional administration
Kherson airport could resume work in May or June 2013, the press service of Kherson Regional State Administration has said, with reference to Deputy Head Volodymyr Yaroshevsky.
"The administration chairman set the task that the airport should start operations in May or June," he said.
Yaroshevsky added that currently talks are being held with the representatives of one Turkish and two Russian air carriers interested in cooperation.
Yaroshevsky also said that after the Regional Council had decided to transfer the property complex to municipal enterprise Kherson Airlines, all facilities on 300 hectares were inventoried, documents for the premises were formalized and at present the issue of certification is being discussed.
"Kherson airport was built during the Soviet era. It has a runway 2.5 km long, a terminal with a high capacity - we have inherited everything," said Yaroshevsky, adding that previously the airport served around 3,000-3,500 people a year.
As reported, Kherson Regional Council in November decided to increase the charter capital of Kherson Airlines by UAH 2 million at the expense of profit of the Kherson State Bureau of Technical Inventory, which will allow to launch Kherson airport.
