1 min read

An audit conducted by the Accounting Chamber of Ukraine has revealed the misuse of state budget funds allocated in 2010-2012 to the Ministry of Education and Science, Youth and Sports to provide schools with information technology, computers and material and technical equipment.

"The audit revealed the absence of proper coordination in the work of the ministry and the Institute of Innovative Technologies and Education Content, which should ensure the implementation of national and budget programs on information technology. The late approval of projects on the development and implementation of computer-based training programs has resulted in the misuse of UAH 5 million that was envisaged for the creation of 17 software tutorials for 10th- and 11th-grade students," the chamber's press service reported on Thursday.

In addition, the Education Ministry did not purchase 600 computer systems in 2010, and 1.5 times more funds were required for their purchase in 2011, i.e. an additional UAH 15.1 million was spent from the state budget.
